Item Description This is a hand made razor sharp entry level practical katana sword suitable for normal tameshigiri. This sword is themed with the famous Japanese Sengoku Daimyo Takeda Shingen and his famous Fu Rin Ka Zan phrase engraved on the copper tsuba. The Tsuka of the sword is Ray Skin with a black cotton wrap. The Menuki are oxidized copper dragons. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the blade in the Tsuka. This sword is made with high temper carbon steel that can cut steel wire without chipping, and can cut through bamboos easily. It is a full tang sword and can be fully disassembled. The Sword is measured at 40” overall long, the blade is measured at 28.5” long. The sword comes with a beautiful container box History Takeda Shingen is considered one of the most well-known and successful Daimyo (warlord) of the Japanese Sengoku (Warring State) period. The stories between him and his legendary rival Uesugi Kenshin have appeared in numerous movies, books, and video games. Besides his success in battlefields, Takeda Shingen was also an accomplished poet in his youth. Shingen had a profound effect on the period in Japan. He influenced many lords with his law system, tax system and administration system. He was probably not as cruel as other warlords, but he was aggressive toward military enemies. His war banner contained the famous phrase Fū-Rin-Ka-Zan, taken from Sun Tzu's 'The Art of War.' This phrase refers to the idea of Swift as the Wind, Silent as a Forest, Fierce as Fire and Immovable as a Mountain, as engraved on the tsuba of this sword. The phrase demonstrates both Shingen's policies and warfare strategy.
